EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO RIDE! Men, women, & children!
TIME & PLACE
CANCELLED DUE TO FLOOD
; Packet pickup 8:30 a.m.; ride starts 9:00 a.m. (Packet will be a small baggie zip-tied to your bike, so no hassle!)
REGISTRATION DEADLINE & FEES: CANCELLED DUE TO FLOOD $25.00 for event + shirt with event & logo on back. 100% of net proceeds will go to Creekwood Middle School fund for preservation of the Honor Garden.
LATE REGISTRATION: Probably means NO SHIRT. Your entry fee may ALL go to the Honor Garden, as we will probably not be able to order more T-shirts unless there are 10 or more late registrants. So feel free to register late, even at the event (cash only then), as long as you don't mind all your entry fee going to the cause. The more the merrier...we hope to see you there!
Contributions through ToppHevvy are NOT TAX-DEDUCTIBLE. This is not a charity, or a business. I am simply passing your donation to the school's fund for the Honor Garden, minus the cost of your t-shirt, which is paid to a third party vendor.
Right now, parking looks good at the high school. If it is crowded, please park somewhere else and ride in, or ride in from your home.
Kingwood High School, back parking lot on Valley Manor Drive. We will release riders in small groups at regular intervals every few seconds until the parking lot is emptied. You may ride in any group you choose.
Veteran Honor Garden, campus of Creekwood Middle School, W. Lake Houston Pkwy. We will arrive in time for a "Time of Honor" for our Veterans, starting at around 10:30 a.m. at the Garden. Then you can ride less than a mile back to the high school if need be, or back to your home.
We will try to ride rain or shine, but If bad weather prevents our scheduled ride, we will make ONE and only ONE re-schedule. If bad weather prevents a 2nd try, the ride will be cancelled, but fees will NOT be refunded. We will arrange a pickup date and location for all shirts, and your proceeds will still go to the fund for the Garden.
ROUTE: Approx. 9 miles along Kingwood greenbelt trails. Only side streets will actually be crossed. Major roads will be ridden under via greenbelt tunnels. At ride time, the route will be marked temporarily and there will be route leaders on patrol; however, it is recommended that you attempt the route at least one time prior, in order to familiarize yourself with the directions and get a feel for your pace. DO NOT depend on the KSA map or even Google maps in previewing the route. They contain many errors on the greenbelts. Use our route map only! Click below for our map.
THIS IS NOT A RACE!
This is a "fun ride." The greenbelts simply do not lend themselves to racing. They are suitable only for leisure riding in single-file, and can be quite dangerous to riders and other trail patrons if used for any other purpose. If you are a hardcore rider who loves to race, PLEASE join us, but we ask that you ride ONLY for the purposes listed below. All riders will be required to sign a Waiver and Hold Harmless agreement prior to the ride in order to be part of the Topphevvy riding group.
THIS RIDE SERVES 3 PURPOSES FOR RIDERS:
1. to enjoy the beauty of Kingwood in a way not possible by car or on foot;
2. to have some fun and socialize while getting some exercise;
3. to be a part of the preservation of the Humble Area Veterans Honor Garden. 100% of net proceeds will be donated to the Garden's preservation fund at Creekwood Middle School.
Oh…and you'll get a really cool shirt! (if you register on time)
1. No racing; leisurely pace only.
2. Follow the markers.
3. Obey all traffic laws.
4. No riders under 18 without a parent or guardian and signed waiver.
5. You must sign a Waiver and Hold Harmless at packet pickup in order to be part of the group and receive your packet & shirt.
6. If possible, please leave your car at home or at a friend's house and ride your bike to the high school. We don't want to take up space in case there is a big school event that morning.
See links below for map, registration & waiver (may pick up waiver at event if you like).
